Steve Jobs posted an open letter to iPhone owners today after the uproar over the $200 discount on the iPhone that was announced on Wednesday.
Jobs defends the price drop but acknowledges the need to take care of early customers:
... even though we are making the right decision to lower the price of iPhone, and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.
As a result, Apple will be offering every iPhone customer a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail store or Online Store.
Starting as early as next week, customers who sign up for an Apple Card at Apple's retail stores in the U.S. will receive $249 cash back when they purchase AirPods Pro 3, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
