CNBC Special on Steve Jobs Airs Thursday Night

by

CNBC will run a one-hour special on Apple CEO Steve Jobs tomorrow night, Thursday June 23rd at 9PM EDT. The show, part of CNBC's Titans series, will offer a look at Steve within interviews from a number of observers, including John Sculley, the former Pepsi-Co exec who famously pushed Jobs out of his own company.

From his parents' California garage he launched the personal computer revolution and built Apple into the most envied, and valuable, technology company in the world. From the Macintosh and the iPod, to iTunes and the iPhone, Jobs has personally presided over the creation of dozens of transformational devices, battling hostile corporate boards, cutthroat competitors, and life-threatening illness while securing his legacy as one of the few visionaries who dared to "Think Different."

"CNBC Titans #6: Steve Jobs" will premiere on Thursday, June 23rd at 9pm ET. The show will repeat that evening at 10pm ET, 12am ET and 1am ET. The show will also repeat on Sunday, June 26th at 9pm ET.

Using my iPhone to set the DVR as we speak.

I would have used my iPad but it was busy streaming live TV.

Would be great if someone could record this and upload somewhere for us non-us members to download :)

Please?
I'm sure this will be on the torrent sites within hours of airing.

To keep in line with doing it Apple style, and being a complete nerd, I just set my DVR to record this from my iPhone at work.

Oh Steve, I love you.

Gates' willingness to sacrifice anything to gain market share worked out... lying to IBM about having an OS ready, buying then licensing QDOS, taking ideas from Xerox/Apple to make Windows then threatening Apple with taking Word/Excel away if they sued over Windows. Kind of dirty pool but there's no arguing with success... your product doesn't need to be the best, only needs to be good enough.

Didn't know about MS threatening to no longer develop Excel/Word for Mac OS ... yet its odd it would be that important since Lotus 1-2-3 and WordPerfect was so much more powerful then.

I enjoyed it, but it could've been better. It praised Jobs as a one man show who created Apple singlehandedly even though Woz made few appearances. I was hoping for an in-depth analysis of his life and personality, but all I got was an Apple timeline. :(
Was ok. Nothing really new or earth shattering. Didn't like how much they had Sculley on there. Like you said was more of an Apple timeline that touched on the impact of the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad without really hitting the gravity of those impacts. Could have been much better. But what do you really expect from a semi journalistic hack series like Titans. Eh.

And sorry, but the whole successor thing. IMHO, the best successor, though probably a reluctant one, was featured in a couple shots, though without any speaking. Jonathan Ive. I think more than Phil Schiller, Scott Forstall, Tim Cook or any other high profile exec at Apple, Ive is the visionary that Steve is and much of Apple's and Steve's success is due in very large part to his contributions to their products.
