Amazon today has the 256GB M1 MacBook Air for the record low price of $749.99, down from $999.00. This has been one of the best all-around discounts on any MacBook model this summer, following its initial debut during Prime Day in July.

You can get the notebook in all three colors of Gold, Silver, and Space Gray at this price. Silver and Gold have an estimated delivery date of August 16 to August 19, but Space Gray is seeing a slightly delayed delivery estimate of August 25 to August 29.

There are many internal and external differences between the 13.3-inch M1 MacBook Air and the newer 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch M2 MacBook Air models, but as an entry-level computer the M1 device should work great for common tasks, especially at this all-time low pricing. You can read our guide to get a better look at all the similarities and differences between the generations.

It's starting to seem that the base models of the newest Apple products are a hard sell with their under-equipped RAM and storage.

It's starting to seem that the base models of the newest Apple products are a hard sell with their under-equipped RAM and storage.
I disagree — I’d say that this is a more-appropriate price for this computer than MSRP. The issue is upgrade pricing, and lack of sales on other configs.

This model is frequently on sale for $750, but if you want any more storage and RAM, you’re paying $1,400.

$750 MacBook Air? Easy sell.

$650 for an additional 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM? Bite me!

It might not be the newest model in the lineup, but the M1 Air is still capable of doing much, much more than just "common tasks."

Needs to be 1TB, minimum. There isn't even room for argument. 256 MB was reasonable 12 years ago. Not today.
And yet I sit here with my 512 Gb M1 Air running the company I work for. I have 130 Gb used on my SSD, so the 256 Gb would be plenty. Not a single complaint, it runs like a champ in every way thinkable.

I would stay away from posts like yours really. You buy what you need. Or should I go to the Apple Store and trade it in for a 1 TB model? You do not need to answer that. :)

Yes you are way off base. That is what YOU did in college. That isn't what goes on today. 1TB minimum. MINIMUM.
What does he need the 1TB for?

PS I believe my mac SE has a 20meg drive. So, no, it's not what *I* did in college. :-)
