Apple Likely to Discontinue These 10 Products Later This Year

Apple recently announced that it will be holding an event on September 9, where it is expected to unveil new iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods, and potentially more.

As usual, Apple will likely remove some older-generation products from sale following the event. Below, we have listed 10 products that are likely to be discontinued either immediately after Apple's event or later this year.

  • iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max: Once the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are announced, expect the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max to go away.
  • iPhone 14 Plus: After introducing the iPhone 14 lineup, Apple discontinued the iPhone 13 mini, with only the regular iPhone 13 remaining available. After the iPhone 16 lineup is unveiled, the iPhone 14 Plus could receive the same treatment, leaving only the standard iPhone 14 for sale.
  • iPhone 13: As the oldest iPhone in Apple's lineup currently, expect the iPhone 13 to be discontinued once the iPhone 16 series is unveiled.
  • Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and Apple Watch SE 2: Apple is expected to introduce Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3 models at its event, and the previous-generation versions of each model are very likely to be discontinued afterwards.
  • AirPods 2 and AirPods 3: Rumors suggest that Apple will introduce both entry-level and mid-tier fourth-generation AirPods at its event. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said both the second-generation and third-generation AirPods will be discontinued after the fourth-generation AirPods debut.
  • iPad mini 6: A new iPad mini is expected to be released in the second half of 2024, with stock of the existing iPad mini reportedly diminished at Apple Stores. However, it is unclear if it will be updated at the September 9 event specifically, or later this year. The existing iPad mini is likely to be discontinued as part of the shuffle.

Of course, it is not guaranteed that Apple will discontinue every product in this list by the end of the year. These are just our educated guesses based on what Apple has done in the past, but history does not always repeat itself.
