Apple to Donate Towards Los Angeles Wildfire Recovery Efforts

In response to devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles, California area this week, Apple said it will be donating towards recovery efforts on the ground.

"The devastation caused by the fires in Los Angeles is heartbreaking," said Apple CEO Tim Cook, in a social media post on Wednesday. "Thank you to the incredible firefighters, first responders, and all those assisting for your heroic efforts. Apple will be donating to support the victims and recovery efforts on the ground."

Apple frequently donates towards recovery efforts following natural disasters around the world, but it typically does not disclose the donation amount or recipient. In the past, Apple has donated to the American Red Cross for these purposes.

As much as we complain about Tim Cook he actually donates to charities. Steve Jobs almost never if ever did.

This post is worthy of a downvote? Wow.
No down vote for me, but I don’t buy into the charity image washing these mega corps do

Stop artificially offshoring your profit to evade taxes
Stop gouging your customers with 4 to 6X Mark ups on component upgrades
Stop lobbying for tax cuts so you can juice your stock price with stock buybacks

I’m not giving them credit for “being a good citizen” just because they do a token donation when there’s a crisis that’s highly visible

If there wasn’t a PR opportunity, they probably wouldn’t be doing this at all

You prefer a multibillion shareholders buyback?
This isn’t an either or. Unless you give also, imo, you have no right to criticize apple especially when they have given and you haven’t.

I hope for containment. This is truly devastating. Not only for all the people living there but also for the wildlife. :(

I am giving them credit for being a good citizen. They have to donate $0.

The rest of the post is really off-topic to the thread.

Steve Jobs kept his charity work private.

If your prime suspect for the $150 million anonymous donation to the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California, was anyone other than Steve Jobs, then you live in Gotham city and do not know Bruce Wayne is batman.
