iOS 26.6 Prepares Your iPhone for iOS 27

Ask Siri iOS 27iOS 27 includes a rebuilt search architecture for Siri AI. As a result, iPhones running the iOS 27 beta go through a re-indexing process that can take many days to be completed, but iOS 26.6 should help to speed things up for users who skip the beta.

iOS 26.6 "optimizes the Spotlight index to prepare for iOS 27," according to Apple's release notes for the update, which will likely be released next week. iOS 26.6 also fixes various bugs and security vulnerabilities.

Very interesting to see this. Expecting the overall user experience to be better due to this. Will update shortly after the release.
It has to be better because iOS 26 was a complete disaster.

Oh that's nice of Apple. Sort of sneaky too. No more "I just upgraded and my phone is super slow". Now it will be "I just upgraded and my phone is super fast and there's more free space (as it will delete the iOS 26 database). Just another way to make the new iOS version "feel" better for end users.

I've been preparing my iPhone for iOS27 ... by staying on iOS18.

I'm already so pleased to have completely skipped iOS 26.

Looking forward to iOS 26.6 and iOS 27. Unlike prior years I will wait to update to iOS 27 until the official release.
I usually wait until the release version of iOS to come out, but the current beta of iOS 27 is legit better for me so far than the current version of iOS 26. The interface is just so noticeably smoother and faster.
