Apple Seeds Eighth iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 Betas to Developers

Apple today seeded the eighth betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming one week after Apple released the seventh betas.

Registered developers can download the betas from the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad by going to the General section and selecting Software Update.

‌iOS 27‌ introduces Apple's smarter version of Siri, ‌Siri‌ AI. ‌Siri‌ AI is a chatbot similar to ChatGPT, incorporating general world knowledge, personal data from apps like Messages and Mail, and onscreen awareness to answer questions and find information for you.

There are new Apple Intelligence features in apps like Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet, and Passwords, plus Apple added a standalone ‌Siri‌ app that houses ‌Siri‌ conversations. Write with ‌Siri‌ is available systemwide for generating text or offering feedback on your writing, and Visual Intelligence has been relocated to the Camera app with a new ‌Siri‌ mode.

Apple improved the look of Liquid Glass and added a slider for customizing transparency. There are multiple performance improvements to speed up iOS, so everything feels faster, even on older iPhones. Apps launch quicker, AirDrop transfers are faster, the keyboard pops up more quickly, and devices are better at transitioning between Wi-Fi and Cellular to keep you connected.

For more on what's new in ‌iOS 27‌, we have a dedicated iOS 27 roundup.

My battery has been better after the indexing period. Crazy that it has to re-index everything after every update. Also, the indexing kills the battery big time when it’s not on charge, I can already see the complaints from normal users about that.
I think the reindexing after every update will stop after the software is released to the general public. It’s probably reindexing because it’s treated as a new install of a major update and not just a point release.

Hope they correct the charging problem on the SE 2020 ...

also why tf do we have a separate article for each OS ? ... not the greatest UX imo ...
IDK, I appreciate having the comments be separated by OS. Would be messy if they were all mashed together.

I've avoided the 27 beta so far and haven't been reading much about it. Pretty stable at this point? Yes I understand the general risks... but I've grown impatient and now want to try out some of the improvements now that we have to be close to a RC. :)

Considering bugOS 26 was one of the worst OSes Apple has ever made, believe it or not, the developer betas are a MUCH improved experience.
