Google Maps users in the U.S. will now see the name "Lake America" instead of "Lake Ontario" for the Great Lake that straddles the New York—Ontario border.
Google Maps users in Canada will still see the "Lake Ontario" name only, while users outside of the U.S. and Canada will see both names.

In Canada: Lake Ontario
Outside of the U.S. and Canada: Lake Ontario (Lake America)
Apple Maps has yet to be updated, so it still shows the "Lake Ontario" name worldwide. When the GNIS updated the name for "Gulf of Mexico" to "Gulf of America" last year, Apple Maps began rolling out the change one day after Google Maps, so it might not be long before Apple follows suit with this "Lake America" change.

The updated name is currently rolling out to iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. The Maps app still has the Lake Ontario label for the body of water, but tapping it now says "Lake America." Apple will likely change the label in the next few hours....

it is normal for different countries to call the same geographic feature by different names. I don't see any problem here, political or otherwise.
The problem is the US has a demented octogenarian with the mind of a petulant child as President, who thinks changing the ~300-year-old name of a lake makes him strong instead of the most pathetic loser on the planet.
