Apple Planning to Hold iPhone 14 Event on September 7

Apple is aiming to hold its first fall event on Wednesday, September 7, reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The event will focus on the iPhone 14 models and the Apple Watch Series 8.

iPhone 14 Pro Lineup Feature Purple
The standard iPhone 14 models are expected to get few changes, but the iPhone 14 Pro models will include updated camera technology, the removal of the notch in favor of a pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout, an A16 chip, and more.

Apple plans to release a total of four iPhone 14 models, including a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. Notably, there will be no 5.4-inch iPhone mini as the smaller iPhone 12 and 13 mini devices have not sold as well as expected.

There are three Apple Watch models in the works, including the new Apple Watch Series 8, a refreshed Apple Watch SE, and an all-new Pro version of the Apple Watch that is expected to feature a larger body, updated design, and more rugged build.

There are also plans for a new low-cost iPad, updated iPad Pro models, a Mac Pro with Apple silicon chips and more, but these devices could be saved for a second October event.

If Apple does indeed move ahead with a September 7 event, we can expect to get official invites approximately one week before, perhaps before the end of August. Apple has already been preparing the pre-recorded event, indicating that it will again take place virtually rather than in person. That said, there could be an in-person component with some members of the media invited.

Gurman says that Apple has told some retail employees to prepare for a new product release on Friday, September 16, which suggests the new iPhone and Apple Watch models could see a release on that date.

September 13th makes much more sense given prior event dates.
But I'll be happy if it's sooner
It’s usually Tuesdays, but it’s Wednesdays if they choose to hold the event the week of Labor Day, which they usually only do if Labor Day falls after September 5, or if they choose to hold the event the week after Labor Day, and that Tuesday happens to be September 11, where they obviously refuse to hold events on that date.
