iOS 26: Enable the New AutoMix Feature in Apple Music

by

Apple Music is one of the apps that got a noticeable Liquid Glass design overhaul in iOS 26, but Apple also added a useful new feature that streamlines song transitions.

AutoMix is designed to transition from one song to another as the currently playing song ends, using time stretching and beat matching for a seamless shift. Apple says that it's meant to work "like a DJ."

Songs are designed to transition at the "perfect moment," based on an analysis of the key and tempo of the music. AutoMix is an alternative to the existing Crossfade feature, and you can enable or disable it by following the steps below.

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Scroll down and tap Apps.
  3. Locate the Music app and tap on it.
  4. Scroll down to the "Audio" section and tap Song Transitions.
  5. Toggle on the Song Transitions switch if it isn't enabled already.
  6. Select the AutoMix option so that a check mark appears next to it.

Now all you need to do is listen to consecutive tracks in the Music app to experience the AutoMix feature. Don't like it? Simply turn it off using the same Settings option described above.

Since Apple announced AutoMix with iOS 26, Spotify has launched its own mixing feature, allowing Premium subscribers to create seamless transitions between playlist tracks.
